Happiness Consultations
Want to be happier in your daily life? Let’s talk.
“Joy isn’t some superfluous extra; it’s directly connected to our fundamental instinct for survival.”—Ingrid Fetell Lee
Are you as happy as you want to be?
The pursuit of happiness is actually written into the United States Constitution as an “inalienable right.” But how many of us make a point of pursuing happiness? We’re too busy juggling the demands of daily life. Besides, trying to be happy is silly, selfish, asking for too much—right?? At least that’s what we’ve been taught.
Do you know what makes you happy? If I were to ask you right now to name three things that make you happy, could you do it?
Most of us would have difficulty, because we’ve been told that it’s selfish to think of ourselves. We’ve been taught that making ourselves happy is frivolous at best—perhaps even sinful.
But what could our world look like if each of us was happier?
If you think that actively trying to be happier is selfish, consider this. Have you ever been around someone who was extremely angry or deeply sad? Could you feel their anger or sorrow?
Emotions are contagious. Humans unconsciously mirror each other’s body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions, causing us to feel what others are feeling. We can “catch” sadness, anger, or anxiety from someone else without even realizing it.
So, is it truly selfish to be happy, if you could cause others to feel happier just by being around you? Surely that would be better than spreading sadness, anxiety, or anger?
You deserve to be happy; we all do.
An unhappy life is a wasted life. There is so much to enjoy in this world. Yes, there’s pain and sorrow, but there’s beauty and love and awe as well, and those make the difficult parts easier to bear. We deserve to enjoy ourselves while we’re here.
Would you like to be happier? I can help.
My name is Ashley Brown and I’m a joy detective and happiness consultant. I’ve experienced postpartum depression, PTSD, anxiety, heartbreak, unexpected loss, deep grief, and overwhelming uncertainty about the future.
I’ve read hundreds of books, taken multiple courses, and tried dozens of techniques to overcome the challenges I’ve faced and feel happier in my daily life.
I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you so that you can be happier, too.
Together in your happiness consultation, we will look at your current life and identify areas that can be enhanced to boost your day-to-day happiness. We’ll look at what might be standing in the way and address those issues with specific, easy-to-implement actions you can take right away.
In our conversation I’ll uncover clues which will guide me in crafting a customized set of suggestions for you to play with, including simple tools, tricks, and techniques that can make a real difference in your everyday life. I’ll tap my network of resources to provide just the right ideas for you. I may not have all the answers, but I can help uncover them.
Your personalized report will take into account your particular issues, goals, lifestyle, schedule, responsibilities, personality, and interests.
And if you like, I can also send you a care package full of comforts and delights, lovingly selected just for you.
One of my favorite tools for boosting happiness is creativity. Studies have shown that creative activities improve your mood and reduce stress levels, even if you have no experience. Just coloring in a coloring book or doodling can calm, center, and relax you.
I find that smooshing around different colors of paint, or dripping watercolors onto wet paper to see how they spread and mingle, makes me astonishingly happy. That’s why one of my offerings is a creative playdate, where we can experiment together via Zoom with fun and easy activities.
You can find all the details about how we can play together on the Offerings page. If something appeals to you but you’re not sure, just email me at Ashley (at) joydetectives.com. I can answer any questions via email, or we can set up a free 15-minute phone chat.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing if a happiness consultation could serve you!
